TRADITIONAL YOGA
I aspire to teach in a way that reflects the wisdom of my teachers. I walk this path to honour their guidance and strive to preserve and share their timeless knowledge, all imperfections in my teaching are mine alone, not theirs. Anything of any value flows from their wisdom and tradition.
Traditional yoga is more than just postures. Asanas are important steps to profound practices for a mindful and meditative life. Physical discipline strengthens the body to still the mind, preparing us for deeper awareness.
"Yoga is the union of the individual and universal soul."
"When the body is steady, the mind becomes steady."
"Yoga is the practice of quieting the mind."
"Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self."
Namaste!
My name is Davie and I teach traditional yoga. One reason is to deepen my own understanding of yoga. As my Yogacharya, echoing the stoic philosopher Seneca said, “As we teach we learn.”
I received much of my yogic education on the banks of the sacred Cauvery River in India. I was blessed to be taught by Yogacharyas educated in a holistic spiritual system rooted in ancient Vedic tradition. Inspired to positively participate in society, they now train people from all over the world to teach traditional yoga steeped in history and supported by modern science.
I aspire to teach yoga in a manner that will honour their heritage and the energy that my mentors have kindly invested in their students.
I am a certified RYT 500 with the Yoga Alliance and have over 700 hours of yoga teacher training in both traditional Hatha and Vinyasa yoga practices.
